Sygnus At Guild Wars 2

(Repost from Facebook Group)

For those that haven't heard the news yet, Guild Wars 2 has set a release date of August 28. A number of Sygnus folks (including Syn and myself) will be guilding up on the Divinity Coast server there (if all goes well). We're welcoming anyone who would like to join us for this launch. We're all causal players, so even if you know nothing of the original GW game, don't worry one bit!

I've been in all the betas and I have to say I'm super impressed and very excited! I'll be spending quite a bit of time in this game world. ^_~

Cost Details: You do have to purchase the game, but there is no monthly fee to play. Pre-purchase folks get in 3 days early, but that's not a requirement to join us!

Newest update!

Our guild will be rolling on the Dragonbrand server come live launch! Our site is still located here: http://wayrift.guildportal.com

Give me a few months to get a job and get a new computer, and then I may just buy it. I'll definitely play Charr if I do. Nothing against races that don't have fur or scales, but... I have my preferences. And the Charr sound particularly interesting. :D

We'd love to have you there, Al! I hope you consider it!

Charr are very interesting. There's a lot of lore behind them and they're just plain fun to play!

I'll also say that when it's free to play, it's really free to play without hidden fees. Some games out there are free to play to a certain point when you have to start dishing out cash for quests or to progress. While there is a cash shop in GW2, it's completely optional and doesn't unbalance play.

After clearing my cc, getting a new computer and a better internet connection is on my to-do list once I get a job, so I'll hopefully join you guys soon!

Comparing the system requirements to games I'm playing/have recently played, I think my computer can handle it. The one thing I'm concerned about it the processor, which exactly meets the most minimum requirements.

Do you have any idea of the demands the game makes of the processor?

Right now, I really don't know from what I saw of beta. It hasn't been fully optimized yet, and even A-Net said they have work to do on it. I personally didn't have any issues playing it, and I don't have one of Syn's super computers or anything. *laugh* I never had to adjust settings down and such. I have heard other people with issues, but have no idea what they were running it on. I'll see if I can find some forum discussions about it later and link it here for you.

I have a Dual-Core of 2 GHz, which is exactly the minimum listed. I've recently played some single player games with a 1.8 GHz minimum, and they run pretty smooth, if I put the graphics settings on low. That's probably also my graphics card lacking, which seems currently to be just a tiny bit above the stated minimum.

Those are single player games, though. In an MMO, other things add up. Aside from the obvious server lag, I'm especially worried that when in a larger group of people, my processor and graphics card will simply not be able to handle it all. It would be rather pointless if I can't play an MMO in a group. :wince:

I'm really not sure. Here's a thread that discusses computer specs and GW2: http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/107 ... s-2-thread

I know that in the past beta weekends, the game wasn't utilizing but one CPU core (they're working on it), and it still ran fine for me without adjusting settings. I'm using a Core 2 Quad with 2.4 GHz.

I may join, but probably not for a number of months. I seem to be spending a lot of money this July...

And besides that, I'm not sure if my computer could handle it. It barely manages the Sims. Definitely getting a new computer next June, though! maybe I'll join then. ^^;
