I only have one dragon (that I can think of that's not from a third-grade novel attempt) and his name is Daolki. That's not very long? Of course, his last name is....

With Draezolnian dragons, it depends on the species. Gold dragons like to add on to their names after significant life events, so older golds tend to have names that are multiple sentences. Bronze dragons, on the other hand, like short names.
"It has been said that we each must pay a price to know our god. I would say that the price we pay determines which god we know. The man who spends his time and money on vices comes to know his god, Pleasure. Likewise, the man who pays his will to his temper knows well the god of Anger."

Not a dragon, but this conversation reminded me of this... There's a boss in Everquest named Lord Doljonijarnimorinar. They just call him "Lord Bob" for obvious reasons.

When you defeat him in Everquest 2, you can earn the achievement called "Defeating Lord Dolg... Doljona... Da... Bob"

I always laugh so hard when I see that in guild chat. :rotf:

Okay... back to dragon talk!

:offtopic:

My dragons all have short names. I just like short names as a rule of thumb. That doesn't mean my dragons don't have large egos, though! ^_~

Mine prefer short, descriptive names. Like Midnight. And Nightwing. And Bloodscale.
Some, though, have bigger egos. They tend towards names from mythology that, coincidentally, describes them. Like Summanus, the Roman god of nocturnal thunder...who happens to be a Shadow/Darkness Elemental dragon who breathes lightning.
...
My only explanation for a dragon that so blatantly breaks every rule on Aelwyd is that Raven created him...and she's never really cared for rules. "Rules are made to be broken" is the nice way of putting it.
"Xena: I never dreamed that we'd be distanced by a hate
That all the trust we had would go

Gabrielle: How could I hate you
Xena: How could it come to pass?
This awful twist of fate

Gabrielle: How could I hurt you
Xena: This madness can't be so
Gabrielle: I can't believe it
Xena: I never dreamed that any barriers could rise
Gabrielle: Or that I'd ever see the stranger in your eyes
Xena: Our hearts were hurting both the same
Gabrielle: The hurt was tearing up our souls
Xena: The fury in us made us blind
Gabrielle: We could not see beyond the pain
Xena: If we can turn again to love
Gabrielle: If we can heal these open wounds
Xena: We'll leave this hatred far behind
Gabrielle: So not a trace of hate remains
Both: We'll overcome our damaged past
And we'll grow stronger side by side
To stand together through the storms
We're safe ‘cause love will be our guide"

Pfffft, I can pronounce that! They just weren't trying hard enough. lol j/k

My dragons' names come in - their own language, which is considerably hissier and has more hard consonants than kalmaeirin, or they get translated into kalmaeirin.
Hence Lady Silver is also called Lilar in kalmaeirin, and in her own language that is Alhcazi. Craegaarhck is some form of kalmaeirin (aarhck = dragon) but I don't know what the rest of his name means yet. No one's told me. And I really don't know his dragon name.
I don't know if Garekhen is dragon or kalmaeirin. No one's told me that either. : P

The unjust hath the just's umbrella
