It all started with a spell that went awry...

...and that was how we became so very, very lost.
Now all we have is the hope that we will make it home again, wherever home may be for us.

((Right, so after reading the last roleplay that died I obtained the idea that people might be interested in another one? So I figured this could be a sort of 'wandering through dimensions' type plot, with the starting point being one of those 'between the worlds' places.))

A very tall man with short brown hair looked around in confusion. Had the light from the spell's backlash temporarily blinded him?
"Esuna!"
The flash of light from the spell did nothing to affect the blackness around him, nor did his eyesight become any clearer. Apparently it was simply that dark and featureless.
Creating a more permanent light-globe, he looked around again to be certain, green eyes almost glowing with reflected light.

((It was intended to be like the previous one; this is a roleplay, we shall figure out what it is about later. Just sort of a for-fun thing.
If you really want it to be about something, you could say it is about finding the way when one is lost. Somehow or another we were thrown out of our home dimensions, and somehow or another we will have to find our way back.))

(Maybe I'll have to play Zakhin'Dakh. I've never tried playing him alone, and it could be a lot of fun)

Zakhin'Dakh was soaring out over the forest, enjoying the evening's last thermals. He and Almonihah had been slowly making their way to somewhere (Zakhin'Dakh could never remember the weird names humans gave places), but his little dragony friend was now setting up camp, so Zakhin'Dakh had a bit of time to himself to just enjoy one of his favorite things: flying.

As he circled lazily above the trees, he saw a flash out of the corner of his eye. He turned his head towards the light, and saw something shiny down in the woods below him. The big griffon focused his eagle-like eyes on the shiny thing, but he couldn't really make much out other than some glowy ball-thing down in between the trees. Curiosity having always paid off for him in the past (well, sort of), he decided to investigate.

Zakhin'Dakh descended slowly, still taking his time. It would be a while before Almonihah was done setting up his camp and eating, so there was no rush. It would have been nice if the little Ranger had taken his saddle and stuff off before he'd gone flying, but the griffon was quite used to having them on by now, so it didn't really bother him too much. It was just a bit hot underneath it.

By now the griffon had almost reached the ground, but the glowy ball-thing still looked like... well, a glowy ball-thing. It was big and round and glowy. Zakhin'Dakh landed next to it. It was in a small clearing, so he didn't have to try anything fancy to land. Once he was on the ground, he slowly walked up to the ball-thing, screeching a bit confusedly as he did. It was obviously some kind of magicy-thing, but, well, there were a lot of magicy-things, so that didn't tell him much. He cautiously reached forward a talon to touch it...

All of a sudden everything was dark. Zakhin'Dakh peered around with an even more confused screech. How had the sun gone down so fast? What had happened to the glowy-thing? And where had the forest gone? As he looked around in the darkness, he did see one thing glowing a little ways off, so he leaped into the air and flew towards it. As he neared it, he thought he saw a human standing with the thing that was glowing. Humans generally didn't like it when really big griffons (like himself) dove at them, so he decided to land and walk towards him. Once he was fairly close, he stopped, waved one of his taloned forelimbs like he sometimes saw humans do with their hands, and screeched cheerily at the human.

Theodore was a bit puzzled by the creature's slow approach -attacking monsters generally went for speed.
It was curiosity that led him to simply watch the griffon draw nearer.
The sight of the saddle on its back and the clear imitation of the human gesture of waving was enough to convince him that the creature was not out to attack random travelers.
Theodore returned the wave.
"Hello there," he said cheerily. "My name's Theodore. I do believe I'm rather lost. I don't suppose you know where this is?"

Zakhin'Dakh paused for a second, thinking over what the man had said. Then he looked around again. Nope, definitely didn't recognize anything. He shook his head with a soft screech.

Theodore's eyes narrowed with focus. That was definitely a deliberate 'no'.
The griffon was intelligent.
"Right," he muttered. "Tragically I don't speak your language, but fortunately you seem to understand mine. If you don't mind- no, let me rephrase that, don't want to be confusing. If you don't object, I could work a minor mind-magic that would let me get the gist of what you're saying even though I don't know the language. It shouldn't be too invasive, but I know some people just don't like having mind-magic used on them."

Zakhin'Dakh tilted his head with a kind of neutral-sounding screech as he tried to understand exactly what it was the human wanted. He wasn't sure what "mind-magic" was, though he could kind of guess what it was about. It sounded kind of like something his other dragony-friend, Garkhen, would do sometimes when Almonihah wasn't around to translate for him. The big griffon hesitantly nodded his head.
