In all seriousness, I've been really into Cyborg 009 lately.

"Darker than Black" has been the recent anime to captivate me (which says a lot as I find myself unable to get into a lot of things in my old age). Smart, gritty, bloody and dark. Not usually my cup of tea, but something about the development worked for me. Give it a few episodes to get into, though.

Just don't watch the sequel! It was terrible and confusing, IMHO! I kept wanting to like it but nothing convinced me and I hated what they did to the characters. :wince:

If you want to watch this, don't read the spoilers about Hei on the page below (seriously... it's much more interesting to question and hear the anime reveal it).

Darker than Black was pretty good. Not my usual fare, either, but the characters were intriguing enough to make up for the less savory aspects of the show.

And basically all of the people I know who've seen the sequel refuse to admit to its existence. Yeah, it's one of those.

High five! :cheer:

Heh... there goes my "reputation" for being the good, sweet girl, eh? Watching all this MA rated anime!

I kinda like Fairy Tail.. but since Mom doesn't like anime, I don't get to watch it much.

A couple of anime I've seen recently that I liked, though not my usual preference, was Kaze no Stigma and Spice and Wolf. I've been a bit slow to get into the anime scene, 'cause I'm picky about what I like.

Is it sad that at 26, my favorite movies are still mostly Disney animated features? :sweatdrop:

Nope. I'll be 33 next month and animated features are often at the top of my list. Just because it's animation doesn't mean it can't tell a good story.

I'm 30; I watch Anime all the time, probably still will when I'm 60...in fact my 60 year old parents often borrow my Pixar movies, and my old man really enjoys Tim Burton's "Nightmare Before Christmas" (yeah I know claymation but it's similar).

Anyway, Nothin' wrong with liking Anime or Animation in general. Like what you like, it's all good. Animation is not just for kids... I wouldn't let anyone under the age of 17 watch Berserk!

Some random quick series recommendations while I'm here:
Irresponsible Captain Tylor - Classic cel anime at it's best and probably the greatest space opera comedy ever made; story, characters, and animation are awesome. If y'all don't like this one don't tell me ;)
Baccano!- Extremely Violent and Extremely Enjoyable. Quirky characters and a prohibition era setting which is odd for Anime. You know you like it.
Tower of Druaga: Aegis of Uruk - Based on an old arcade game, interesting concept for a show, the second season isn't as good (it's way more serious). There's some fun humor in this show. Check it. :spit:
