Avoid fanfiction.net. At. All. Costs.
"Xena: I never dreamed that we'd be distanced by a hate
That all the trust we had would go

Gabrielle: How could I hate you
Xena: How could it come to pass?
This awful twist of fate

Gabrielle: How could I hurt you
Xena: This madness can't be so
Gabrielle: I can't believe it
Xena: I never dreamed that any barriers could rise
Gabrielle: Or that I'd ever see the stranger in your eyes
Xena: Our hearts were hurting both the same
Gabrielle: The hurt was tearing up our souls
Xena: The fury in us made us blind
Gabrielle: We could not see beyond the pain
Xena: If we can turn again to love
Gabrielle: If we can heal these open wounds
Xena: We'll leave this hatred far behind
Gabrielle: So not a trace of hate remains
Both: We'll overcome our damaged past
And we'll grow stronger side by side
To stand together through the storms
We're safe ‘cause love will be our guide"

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone -- even the ones that made no sense. :] The only sites I went to out of all of those was Wikipedia (to look up the pharmacology of a new drug I'm taking), and YouTube (to look up the opening theme for the Hunter x Hunter remake). I'm gonna avoid the Pit of Voles (fanfiction.net) especially, though. The last time I was there, a whole day elapsed. x.x; Haven't been to TVTropes... Oh, and I did hang around memebase, and ICHC, and that once place with trollface... ><; Facebook, too, and Blogger. ... I think I spent more time on Blogger, but I was writing out my woes with Aetherium Story, sooo... >.>;;;

But, yeah. I was able to do 1666 today, miraculously. I have work early tomorrow, so I'm gonna either get up early, or go into the living room with my headphones when I get home. The only bad thing is that Robert thinks I'm being antisocial. ><; Bah.

Create a consistent only-writing time if possible each day.

If you just can not resist, disconnect from the Internet completely. Pull the Ethernet plug. Shut off the wireless. Put your iPod/iPhone/iWhatever in a drawer. That means no email notifications popping up (those get me every time). No websites when you click your browser. Tell yourself that your reward for spending X amount of time writing will be access to the Internet again. That tends to work. :lol:

^ Very true but I would so die. LOL!

I tend to use the internet when I need some info, and being disconnected to wiki can hinder my process. :shy:

I need the net for http://dictionary.reference.com/, mostly. I only have French dictionaries here, and a French to English one. If I get stuck on a word, it's easier for me to look it up online than translating it, then looking it up in my Petit Larousse. Besides, the site offers a thesaurus, and I abuse it like crazy.

Or, you know, you can ask your native English speaking friends about Grammar rules. XD

Ah.... Im good with shutting distractions out, mostly. Just, I have a hard time saying no to people who want me to help thing with things, and my parents don't seem to understand how serious I am about this writing thing, even though I told them in advance about NaNoWriMo. I still think part of them thinks that I'm not really being serious when I say that I want to spend the rest oc my life writing; I don't know if they believe that I have what it takes. So, they keep asking me to do things during my writing time; I can't really say no to this since I'm still living at home and I find myself obligated to do more around the house in order to pull my weight since I don't have a job. They complain that they never see me and don't believe me when I say that homework is what keeps me busy. This year, there's a lot holding me back.

At least my brother understands and supports me. He's my biggest fan and supporter. Without him, I don't know what I would do right now. I'm really ... Really .... Really depressed.

I sometimes do that too. ^^; Ever since I got my hands on Microsoft 2007 I don't do that too often. It comes with a decent thesaurus (which I abuse to no end) and it can connect to a database for a dictionary. It translates stuff too, you have to download it, but it translates stuff.

If worse comes to worse, I use Google translate when I having issues with the language bridge in my brain. ^^;

Hang on to that brother of yours like there is no tomorrow! I'm sorry to hear that you're depressed. :( :hug: Hang in there Rose...
You might need to go and find a NaNo writing group...if at your college even better. That way you can write with them with no looming potential spur of the moment requests for help and set some time to hang out with the parents. It'll be tough, but I know you can do it! :cheer:

Your brother is rooting for you and so am I! I'm certain plenty of us here at the forums feel the same! Don't give up! You can do this! :nyan: It's awesome that you're even trying with your schedule! Don't lose hope and do your best! :banana:

How come it's always the siblings that understand? My brother (supposedly) loves my art and writing, but people like my stepmother think I spend too much time on it, and should concentrate on getting into Pharmacy School (which I don't understand, because her son (my stepbrother) draws all the time, and is a clown, and he's FULLY supported in what he likes to do -- it's like, "oh, April is different because she's my stepdaughter."). I wish she (and my dad) would understand that I don't want to be a pharmacist, and can make a decent living being a Certified Tech (I know that I probably sound stupid to a lot of you, and should aim higher... but geez. 8 years of schooling, because it's required to get a PharmD instead of an Rph certification? I can't do 8 years...). I dunno. It always seems like my brother has my back, and I have his.

When it comes to finding time to actually write, my husband is like the parents. He doesn't like my style of writing -- too "descriptive." x.x; I've showed him nanowrimo.org, and he's like, "oh, that's cool." ... but he never understands that I need my alone time to write this thing. He's always watching his anime without the headphones, or cussing out BlazBlue/Street Fighter/whatever-fighting-game, and it distracts me like you wouldn't believe. :| When I approach him about it, he pulls the antisocial card (which, yes; I have that problem IRL), and I HATE it. ><; Where's the marital support in that? :/ ... Any of you watch Family Guy? He so reminds me of Peter Griffin at times. X__X;

But, uhm.... ^^;;;;;;;;;; Sorry........

I already put away my iPod Touch... I guess I could try disconnecting from the internet on my laptop, but using my tablet strictly for the online thesaurus and dictionary. Or I could break down and buy books... Decisions, decisions...

:offtopic: My mom's a pharmacist. She says that there is a shortage of both pharmacists AND techs. At least in BC. So...... third-person justification help? :)

It all comes down to this: how much self control do you really have. : \ I know I can limit my use of the internet (black hole time sucker in my life)...I stay away from the games though...and the drawing programs until I'm done for the day.
